Native Plant Trail at Lost Dutchman State Park

Native Plant Trail at Lost Dutchman State Park

Take a stroll along the Native Plant Trail, a 1/4 mile trail that features desert plants along an accessible paved trail. The best time to visit here is the spring after a wet winter. Native Plant Trail is easy, paved that is perfect for those who want to see some desert plant but not interested in a long or rugged hike. The desert plants lay waiting for a good dose of water to pop up and reproduce during wet years. In these years, the desert comes alive with spring annuals that put on a splendid show of colors not to be seen again until the next El Nino year.

Lost Dutchman is a great place to immerse yourself into the Sonoran Desert. The scenery and the backdrop against the mountains is stunning.
